Finding Stability Within: Harnessing Body Work to Ease Anxiety and Heal Trauma

Did you know that the number one way to heal your anxiety and trauma is by finding a sense of safety in your body? I speak from personal experience and the research I found in writing my Integrative Healing book. Yes, I am super excited to announce it is coming out in 2025 through Llewellyn World Wide!

There are many ways to do this but our focus here is on using your body’s energy system for transformation. Let's dive into the foundational essence of the Root or “Muladhara Chakra,” a vital energy center governing your sense of security, survival instincts, and stability with the mantra "I Am."

When in optimal balance, this chakra fills you with a profound sense of self-assurance and confidence, enabling you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. However, imbalances in the Root Chakra can manifest as fear, insecurity, and a need to control your surroundings in order to feel safe. Which would be like to trying to find solid ground on shifting sands.

To realign and harmonize your Root Chakra, a holistic approach with bodywork techniques and mindful practices is the aim in incorporating modalities such as the Gyan mudra and Mula Bandha to facilitate a deeper connection with the earth's grounding energy and foster stability and strength both physically and energetically. Plus, you can use yoga postures like Bridge Flow, Goddess Squat, and Tree pose to open and activate your energy channels associated with the Root Chakra, to promote a sense of rootedness and security.

I love layering these bodywork practices with affirmations/mantras for nurturing self-compassion and resilience within your Root Chakra. Statements such as "I am financially secure," “I am abundant,” “I am safe and at ease,” and "I am trusting the universe to provide." All of which serve as reminders of your inherent worthiness and capacity to navigate life's uncertainties with grace. Sparkle and shine, at your essence you are divine, right?

By embracing self-compassion and acknowledging your vulnerabilities, you cultivate a deeper sense of security and stability within yourself, building a harmonious alignment with the earth's grounding energies.

Have an experience with embodiment or something to share? I'd love to hear from you. Please leave your comments below.

Here's to your health and well being! Namaste, Jackie, ERYT-500, IAYT
